The Ellensburg First Friday Art Walk is designed to showcase performing & visual arts on a monthly basis in galleries and non-traditional spaces in Ellensburg. The First Friday Art Walk is an event to honor the local artist and their work. It is important to show original work done by the hand of the artist, not reproductions.
To become a First Friday Art Walk Venue please go to the download forms page of this web site, download and fill out the Participating Venue Agreement, and turn it in to the Commission Secretary or to a current Commission Member.
First Friday is a special evening set aside each month so everyone can visit your business and meet your featured artist. That is why it is important that the artist be present. The Arts Commission advertises that the Art Walk begins at 5:00 PM. You are welcome to provide light snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments.
Plan to have your featured artist’s work on display throughout the month. If there is art work for sale, please mark accordingly.
The public likes to see variety and they look forward to coming back each month to your venue to see what’s new. With that in mind, we suggest changing your featured artist each month.
It is the responsibility of the venue to find a new artist each month. If you have difficulty in this area please refer to the Artist List on our web site. It is for this very purpose the list was established. The list includes the artist, e-mail contact, and brief description of their medium.
The publication of this list is not an endorsement by the Arts Commission of the artist but is solely provided as a courtesy to the venues as a resource. We hope this will be a valuable tool for you.
The Arts Commission prints a monthly flier listing your venue, contact information and featured artist & medium. The fliers will be delivered to you either the day before or the day of the art walk. Also, your venue and featured artist will be published in the “First Friday Art Walk” section of the Daily Record.
For your venue and artist to be listed in the monthly flier it is imperative that you submit your featured artist to us no later than 3pm on the Friday before “First Friday”. Please contact us through this web site. As a courtesy to the venue, two e-mail reminders will go out, one on Monday and again on Thursday before the Friday deadline. If you do not have an e-mail address the courtesy reminder will come to you via the phone. Due to printing and publication constraints, if you do not have an artist to feature or if we do not receive the information by the deadline listed above, your venue will not be listed in the flier for that month. However, we will still deliver copies of the Art Walk Flier for your distribution.
